FORM INTEGRATION
Design brief
Making an integration of two PU-foam beams and connecting them to create one rigid whole.
Prototyping
I started by glueing the two beams to each other after which I carved away some material and used plasticine to add material. I did this until I had a form I was pleased with.
Process
The main process consisted of using the bandsaw and a sanding block for rough contours. Afterwards I redefined the shape with a soft grid sandpaper to create the rigid fluent looking object I was aiming for.
Final result
Starting from one block of PU-foam I carved away all the excess material to end up with a fluent and rigid shape as shown below.
